For yours is the kingdom,
The power and the glory.
Father, establish your sovereign rule.
Glorify your name and keep us safe
For now and eternity.
The closing ascription takes us back to affirming that we live in God’s creation and in the presence of his Kingdom.
Eternity has already entered our world in the coming of Christ and is moving us to the consummation of God’s work in the world that will be complete on Christ’s second coming in glory.
So we acclaim God’s presence and his rule, and feel safe in the knowledge of its establishment, as we await Christ’s return.
