One Christian was killed and another injured as bandits attacked a church service in Kaduna State, Nigeria, on Sunday 31 October.
The bandits also abducted an unconfirmed number of worshippers from Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kakau Daji, Chikun Local Government Area.
The deceased was named as Yusuf Dauda, the injured as Musa Yusuf.
Pastor Joseph Hayab, chairman of the Kaduna branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, described the attack as “another sad story of how deteriorating our insecurity has become”.
“Citizens are being killed like chickens with only press statements as consolation,” added Pastor Hayab. “These evil people have troubled us for too long.
“I condole with the families of the Baptist denomination and Kaduna Christians for these losses … No one knows who will be the next target.”
On 26 September gunmen killed 35 people in two separate attacks on churches in Kaduna State. Pastor Stephen Baba Panya, President of the Evangelical Church Winning All, had previously complained that the Nigerian government and security services were failing to protect Christians.
