The proverbial “friend in need is a friend in deed” is the antidote to our stressful and anxious lives.
My life came to a complete stop as a result of the pandemic and subsequently an accident.
This made me yearn for friendship and company, which I eventually found in three ways.
Scripture
During my loneliness, I found solace in reading the Bible and meditating on it. This gave me the foundation to rely on God for everything and grow closer to him. Jesus’ intimate statement in John 15:14 when he addresses his disciples as friends, changed my loneliness into something that can fill my life with hope.
Prayer
When I was going through this very difficult time in my life, God alone was that friend to whom I could communicate, share, and pour out all that I was undergoing. Jeremiah 33:3 – Call unto me, and I will answer you. This was a powerful assurance that I could speak intimately with God and it gave me immense peace at all times.
Intimacy with God
The calm assurance through God’s Word and Prayer made me long to know this friend more and more. This faithful friend was transforming my life from slumber to one of splendor. God is indeed such an amazing friend to have.
We must establish a relationship through Scripture, prayer, and intimacy. This will help us build a long-lasting and meaningful friendship with God.
