“Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God.
Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart.
I am so pleased that you have continued … Philippians 1:3-6 MSG
We are called to build the Kingdom of God one heart at a time. What a joy it is to see those whom we have shared the Gospel, counselled, mentored continue on in their faith journey.
We must cherish this opportunity to be at God’s service. We also have the responsibility of remembering and praying for them. Here, Paul sets us an example for remembrance and prayer.
We sow. We water. God makes growth possible. Every remembrance must be followed with exclamations of praise. Such outburst of prayers must trigger prayers with a glad heart.
God is at work. He will finish what he started. We need to be confident – without the slightest doubt – that God will bring the journey of faith to a flourishing finish.
Questions for further reflection
- Do I remember and pray for those whom I have shared the gospel/ counselled/ mentored? Can I draw a list of three people whom I can pray for?
- Am I thankful to God for their journey of faith – right from the start to the present?
- What I can do for their spiritual nurture?
