Read Luke 2:33–40
‘When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.’ (vv39–40)
What a privilege and incredible responsibility it must have been to be Joseph and Mary, the earthly parents of Jesus, entrusted with the care of the long-promised Christ child.
In verses 39 and 40 of Luke chapter 2, it tells us that following the consecration ceremony in Jerusalem, Joseph and Mary took Jesus home – they literally lived every day with Jesus!
It was within this home that Jesus ‘grew and became strong… [and] was filled with wisdom, [with] the grace of God on Him’ (v40).
We want to encourage you to look to Christ each day, to know His presence and comfort as you navigate existing and new challenges.
This is both a great privilege and a responsibility for each of us as we seek to grow in Him and learn how to walk and talk to Him each day.
The words of the song capture this desire well when they say:
I want to walk with Jesus Christ, all the days I live of this life on earth; to give to him complete control of body and of soul.
A PRAYER TO MAKE: ‘Lord, help me to live every day with and for You. Amen.’
