Islamist Fulani militants are suspected of carrying out the murders of a Christian couple and their 17-year-old daughter in Benue State, Nigeria on 29 November.
Clement and Christiana Ukertor were killed on their farm in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area (LGA). The following day the body of their daughter Dooyum was found in the bush.
The couple’s older daughter Blessing, 20, suffered multiple machete wounds and, at the time of writing, was in a serious condition in hospital.
Benue State lies in Nigeria’s Middle Belt where Christians are frequently subject to Islamist attack and abduction.
In June 2022 large numbers of suspected Fulani extremists killed 37 people in a Christian-majority area of Okpokwu LGA in Benue State as families were preparing for Sunday worship. Dozens of homes were destroyed in the attack and more than 500 were driven from their homes.
Pray that Blessing makes a full physical and spiritual recovery from her wounds and the trauma of the attack. Ask that she is comforted knowing that her parents and younger sister have received the gift of eternal life.
