Peace

Colossians 3:15–17 ‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since… you were called to peace.’ (v15)

The peace of Christ can make a real difference to our lives. For instance, a Christian leader encountered many difficulties and challenges over her life, then finally reached a point where she came to the end of herself and leaned on God fully.

She trusted Him with her health, for she suffered because of a couple of on-going conditions; with her finances, which were uncertain for she worked for a Christian ministry; and with her relationships, which sometimes became tangled and hard.

Even with all these challenges, she didn’t fret or ooze with anxiety. Knowing that the Lord lived within her and would lead her and guide her gave her a deep sense of peace.

Paul wants the Colossians to be ruled by peace, that as a church they will be winsome to outsiders as they preach and teach the saving message of Christ.

He says they should be marked with praise and gratitude as they hold each other up in the ways of God. And whatever they do, they should carry it out in the mighty name of Jesus.

We, like the Christian leader above, can be marked by peace when we dedicate, as much as we’re able, all that we are and all that we do to the Lord.

We can commit ourselves to God, so from the time we make the first cuppa of the morning to the moment at night when we rest our bodies and minds in our beds, we’re doing so in the name of the Lord Jesus.

May this day the peace of Christ rule in your heart and the message of Christ dwell in you richly.

A Prayer To Make:
‘Lord God, often I am filled with worries, and sometimes I wonder if they will consume me. Please come and fill me with Your peace. Amen.’

An Action To Take:
Write a list of the things that bring you peace, and the things that make you feel anxious. Ask God to show you how you can embrace the former and release the latter.
