Do we trust the Lord? Do we trust in His purpose for us? You and I are to ask for our needs – and desires. But are we prepared to listen and take the no, sometimes and OBEY?
Obey is the key word – even when the answer may not agree with us. Why? Because we submit to the greater wisdom of the One who created us, the One who made us in love, the One who is my Father and my Mother.
Those of us who are parents will recall the number of times we have said no to our children. It was never meant to hurt them, it was a no at that point in time as it was not appropriate or right for the children. At that time the child would have been disappointed and sad. Probably when they got older they may understand.
The same with God and our prayers. Just as the child does not understand when a parent has said no, we also need to understand that God has said no in His wisdom. It is in our interest.
Obey and trust God is the reason why the “Lord’s Prayer” has the statement – Your will be done. That is also the reason why when Jesus prayed in Gethsamane He said “not my will but your will be done”. That was Jesus the Man in complete obedience to God the Father!
We need to realise He is my Lord and my God. No one loves me more. And sometimes it’s difficult journeys.
As children we never worried about being fed or clothed or protected, in the same way we also need to trust the Lord to provide for all our needs!
