Guilt

Struggling with guilt is a common challenge among many Christians. It’s hard for many to deal with the guilt, if not the shame they feel about the sins they’ve committed in the past. What about you?

Do you need to let go of your guilt and let God’s grace change you?  In this article, you will understand how confession and true repentance can make this happen!

The U-Turn

The Bible is clear about this: No matter how big your sin is, God forgives you when you confess and repent.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Confession is a verbal acknowledgement of wrongdoing followed by meaningful repentance. Your genuine confession activates God’s justice and faithfulness. You don’t have to continue to feel guilty and condemned.

The apostle Paul assures “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit” – Romans 8:1

God will accept you as long as you submit to Him. Your new status in Christ frees the body, soul, and spirit from condemnation. It’s important to know, however, that your confession needs to be followed by repentance, which means a desire and willingness to make a right-about-turn

Grace Helps Us Move Past Guilt

Sometimes, it can be hard to reconcile faith in God’s grace with doing good works. However, we can learn from the apostle Paul who explained Grace and good works

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Grace is God’s unmerited favour. You don’t deserve it. Neither can you earn it. Grace is a means provided by God to reach him. You simply accept God’s gracious provision through faith.

Many people think good works can earn them salvation. To get to heaven, they adhere to practices that require big sacrifices, penitence, and physical suffering. However, Paul reminds us we can’t earn salvation through anything we do.

Embracing Freedom From Guilt

God’s grace makes it possible for everyone to be saved. God made it possible for us to be saved through Christ because we can’t do anything on our own.

According to Romans, we’ve all sinned and fallen short of God’s expectations. As a result of our sins, we’re separated from God forever. Thankfully, God sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Everything God does for your redemption is fueled by grace.

“In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace – In Ephesians 1:7

“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time – 2 Timothy 1:9

Conclusion

In conclusion, when you confess your sins and put your faith in Jesus, you are free from guilt and shame. You will experience God’s forgiveness. God’s grace will help you let go of your past guilt and live a free life.
