love

It is a privilege to be in a loving relationship with God – the Maharaja of the Universe. How easy it is to say, ‘I love you, Lord’. More often than not, we don’t understand the full import of saying, “Lord, I love you”.

To love God is to obey him. Herein lies the challenge. We tend to think of obedience as a compliance list of do’s and don’ts. And therefore, obedience is generally understood as a difficult task or a duty.

But, to obey is to accept, agree and live by God’s Word. It is to be in a relational mode with God. To obey is to love him.

When we love God, we accept, agree and live by His word. Obedience, then, is not a task. It is our loving response to God – who loves us more than anybody else.

Let’s accept, agree and live by His Word. Loving God is not saying it everyday; It is about living it everyday, everywhere and in every way.

Love means, we do what God tells us. And from the beginning, he told you to love him.” – 2 John‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭CEV‬‬

Questions for further reflection

1) Do I agree that God’s Word is good-true and beautiful? How does this affect my relationship with God?
2) What aspects do I find difficult to accept? Can love help ease the difficulty?
3) What does it take to live by His Word today?
