Genesis 47:13–26 ‘So Joseph established it as a law concerning land in Egypt…’ (v26)
Joseph has the joy of having his family back with him in Egypt, but God called him to Egypt for a purpose and he has a job to do. In today’s reading we see him execute that job with fairness, as the people are glad he has saved their lives and seem happy with the terms he sets. He was called to a foreign land for a purpose.
God calls many to foreign lands. To fulfil His purposes, such people need and appreciate our prayers. Missionaries can work in difficult circumstances and the support of people praying for them and encouraging them can make all the difference. Joseph would have had to make some tough decisions throughout his premiership. Missionaries often have to do so too.
Joseph would have seen hardship – indeed, it was to deal with a crisis that he was called in the first place. Missionaries often work with and see hardship, and it can be tough to deal with. They need God’s sustaining grace. You can partner with missionaries and encourage them in their work by your prayers. In this way you can be part of spreading the gospel to faraway places.
A Prayer To Make:
